FAQ's of Pawna Lake Camping

What is the best time to visit Pawna Lake for camping?

The best time for Pawna Lake camping is from September to March. During these months, the weather is pleasant, and the lake is full after the monsoons.

  • Winter (Nov-Feb): Ideal for bonfires and stargazing.

  • Monsoon (Jun-Aug): Best for lush greenery and waterfalls, though activities may be limited by rain.

  • Summer (Apr-May): Hot during the day but offers cool evening breezes by the lakeside.

Yes, it is 100% safe. Our  campsite have dedicated zones for family camping and couple-friendly tents. On-site caretakers are available 24/7, and the areas are well-lit and gated to ensure a secure environment for all guests.

For safety reasons, swimming in Pawna Lake is strictly prohibited. The water is very deep in certain areas with uneven surfaces. However, guests can enjoy the water at the shore (up to knee level) or participate in supervised boating and kayaking with life jackets.

Pawna Lake is easily accessible from both cities:

  • From Pune (60 km): You can drive via Kamshet. If coming by train, get down at Kamshet Railway Station and hire a private jeep to the campsite.

  • From Mumbai (120 km): Drive via the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and take the Lonavala exit. If using public transport, take a train to Lonavala Station and hire a local cab or jeep (approx. 1-hour drive).

The main roads from Kamshet are generally in good condition and suitable for both cars and bikes. Some internal village roads leading to specific “lake-touch” campsites may be narrow or unpaved, so high-ground-clearance vehicles are recommended during the monsoon.
